Beth Keylon-RandolphLead Instructor,

Owner Beth Keylon-Randolph

Keylon-Randolph Fastpitch Softball Academy has developed a standard of excellence that is second to none.  And it all starts with Owner and Lead Instructor, Beth Keylon-Randolph, a true difference maker in the lives of each one of her students.  It is commonly understood that an athlete in softball is seen as a potential best if they are a “5 tool player.”  In the world of softball instruction the same can be said for a teacher…they are potentially the best if they are a “5 tool teacher.”

Beth has taken those “5 tools” and removed the word potential and indeed is a world best in teaching young ladies the fundamentals and finer points of all aspects in softball.  The 5 tools:  1.  Gender.  2.  Elite player at all levels of competition.  3.  Education.  4.  Coaching experience.  5.  Teaching personality.

As a woman, competing in a sport specific instruction business, Beth utilizes and has endorsed the concept of a “5 tool teacher.”  Her experience started as a 4-year old girl playing baseball with the boys.  From there she moved to elite status in the summer leagues, then onto high school leading her team to a state championship and finally finishing her playing time as a choice pitcher, hitter and infielder while earning her college degree at Tennessee Tech.

Because of her experiences and who she is, Beth can identify with each one of the joys, sorrows and frustrations of each one of her students.  She understands the psyche of a little girl, teenager and young lady trying to get ahead in the game and earn that cherished college scholarship.  Beth has walked that same path.

Along with numerous summer softball MVP's, being named an ASA All-American, high school All-American, high school  four year MVP, Presidential Fitness Award winner, as a collegiate player Beth also earned awards such as NCAA Woman of the Year, Tennessee Tech Female Athlete of the Year and finally is the only woman to ever win the OVC Pitcher and Player of the Year.  As a college graduate and for her collegiate accomplishments, Beth is recognized member of the Tennessee Tech Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Tech Softball Wall of Fame.

Coaches such as Ralph and Karen Weekly (University of Tennessee), Joyce Compton (University of South Carolina) and Bobby Holloway (Tennessee Tech) have valued Beth as their pitching and assistant coach.  In each of these venues, Beth’s pitching staffs have statistically excelled to be recognized as some of the best in the country.

In 2002, Beth was named Head Softball Coach at Chattanooga State.  As a 4- time winner of Coach of the Year honors (2002, 2005, 2007 and 2008) Beth has placed over 75 players on All Conference and All Region Teams and has developed an astounding 21 NJCAA All-Americans in her 9-year stint as the Tigers head coach.  Nationally, she continues to coach her teams to top five national rankings, having been ranked as high as number one.

Statistically with 489 wins in 9 years, Beth’s Chattanooga State teams are among the countries best:

-          2002…Team batting average .345…Team ERA 1.39

-          2003…Team batting average .335…Team ERA 1.81

-          2004…Team batting average .396…Team ERA 0.80

-          2005…Team batting average .366…Team ERA 1.07

-          2006…Team batting average .379…Team ERA 1.13

-          2007…Team batting average .342…Team ERA 1.06

-          2008…Team batting average .339…Team ERA 0.72

-          2009…Team batting average .376…Team ERA 1.02

-          2010…Team batting average .360…Team ERA 1.34

In 2007, two more milestones became realities for Beth.  First she was named Co-Head Coach of Team USA and took a team of USA JUCO All-Stars and competed at the World University games in Bangkok, Thailand, beating some of the Worlds finest Olympic teams.  Second, Chattanooga State recognized Beth’s abilities, skills and experiences by naming her Assistant Athletic Director.

And finally, Beth ties her teaching tools of Gender, Elite Playing Experience, Education, and Coaching with her unmatched Teaching Personality.   Beth’s characteristics as a person, teaching style, playing and coaching experience place Keylon-Randolph Fastpitch Softball Academy as the premier teaching academy in the country.  Her communication is concise.  She listens and utilizes sound strategies to elicit the best performance from her students.  Her honesty and integrity enhance effectiveness and thoroughness in lesson planning.  Student success is directly related to her ability to evaluate and teach.  Beth’s charismatic personality brings it all together to give each student athlete the best chance at success.
